“ Tantawan Thai restaurant was an unplanned trip in Rosemead. It's located in an older plaza and front windows are overly tinted that gives the perception that the restaurant is out of business. The restaurant is cozy with older room scent but it is a welcoming spot serves up delicious Thai dishes with bold flavors. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries, savory stir-fries, or even duck on rice (more on that later). The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warm atmosphere. Green Thai ice tea - which is Thai ice tea with jasmine tea was too, too sweet. Very disappointed. Pad Thai is an absolute must-try. perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness and spice. Claims Stir-fried - this is my favorite. The dish has a nice kick that builds as you eat. Plus, the portions are generous, Duck with rice plate. That was a bit ofd offered at Thai restaurant. We bypass this notion, we ordered it and my sister said it was decent. However, I was disappointed as the duck certainly wasn't prepared that day but had a 2-3 days older taste to it. Maybe it was defrosted....at least heat in the air fryer?!? ”

“ Tantawan has been a favorite for Thai food around the area for me for many years. I went recently for lunch on Sunday for a party of 6. They had a lot of seating but slowly there were more parties, though still pretty empty. The waitress kept checking on us to ask if we were ready to order and served us water and hot tea while we were still deciding. Shrimp mummy is very simple, but it seasoned well and their sweet chili sauce paired well with it. Yummy but I can live without it. We thought the tom kha with chicken no spicy was a slightly salty and overwhelming sour. My parents were not a fan of the acidity, but it hit the spot for me since I LOVE acidity. The chicken was not dry and they do give you adequate amount of protein in the soup. I ALWAYS order pad Thai chicken at any Thai restaurant I go to, and this place was one of the first one that added the pickled turnip which brings a different texture and flavor to the dish. The noodles are chewy and there was enough saltiness, sweetness, and tanginess in the dish. Lots of bean sprouts so if you're slightly allergic like me, I'd pick it out our ask them to not add it. There was wok hay in the pad see ew, and the noodles were also cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flavor. This is another solid dish to order. Surf and turf fried rice had a lot of different protein to offer in one plate. Fried rice was fragrant, but it was a little oily. Last but not least, my favorite dish that I've never seen elsewhere is their puffy catfish. It comes out as a fried dome of catfish meat on top of a bed of shredded cabbage and carrots. It comes with a side of spicy, sweet, salty and sour green apple fish sauce. The sauce comes with pieces of thinly sliced green apple. The mild was not spicy though. The texture of the crispy catfish pairs well with the different profiles of the sauce. I'm salivating thinking about it. If you're looking for an appetizer, I think this would definitely whet your appetite! Flavorful Thai food in a busy plaza but the place is pretty empty, which bums me out. ”

“ Totally been sleeping on this place for Thai food. It's such a hit if you're ever craving Thai food and are in Rosemead! My family and I came here on a Monday night and it was pretty empty. Service was great - super attentive. Lots of seating and tables inside so perfect for big or small groups. Overall, my family and I really enjoyed our meal here and will definately come back here more often. Let's get down to it - the food: - Tom kha with chicken - so so good, chicken wasn't dry, flavor was just right. - crispy tofu - generous portion for an appetizer, we love to see it. It was so crispy, my brother loved it! - pad see ew with pork - probably one of the best lad see eyes I've tasted. If ever I'm craving it, I will order from here again. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the flavor was spot on. Pork did not taste dry either. - pad Thai - generous portion again, lots of bean sprouts, carrots, and peanuts. Noodles were perfectly cooked and it was jsut the right amount of sweet and savory. - Tom yum noodle soup - generous noodle soup portion with a lot of toppings. If you're craving a tom yum flavor then this will satisfy that craving! - crispy pork/duck/bbq pork rice - this was the most underwhelming dish. As good as it sounded, meat ratio to rice was not great. Sooo much rice but 3-4 pieces of meat each. Bbq pork and crispy pork were dry. The duck was delicious tho. Probably would not get this dish again. ”

“ Great location with parking. It is located in a plaza. Easy to get in and out. Staff members are always nice. We usually order for pick up and the food is great. We love their fried rice, papaya salad and drunken noodles. Thai coffee is so good too! We have been customers for yearsssss. ”

“ Enjoyed it very much. When my boyfriend and I arrived there wasn't that much people but it was a weekday. Service was fast, patient , and nice so I appreciated it. We ordered Tom kha mild spice , pad Thai chicken , 2 Thai tea , Side of rice , & mango sticky rice. Everything was delicious, nothing was too much , too salty , not bland just nice & flavorful. Thai tea definitely hit the spot because most Thai tea I had it's either a hit or miss or just plain watery. Mango was not as sweet for the mango sticky rice but it was not mango season so I get that , still tasty though ! The place itself is pretty huge that can fit bigger parties. Everything totaled out to be about $50, a little pricey yes but everything was delicious. And there's only 2 locations ! Here & West Covina. Definitely will be back! ”

“ This place is my favorite Thai food! I always get the cashew chicken, pad, Thai or pad Thai replaced with glass noodles! The chicken has the most amazing flavor! The pad Thai is perfectly seasoned, especially with their peanut sauce! The waitress is always smiling and happy! I do drive about 30 minutes to go to this place because it is worth the drive! ”

“ Came here for a quick dinner. We haven't been here in awhile and the flavors are great! Seafood Tom yum soup- spicy and good flavor, good amount of seafood in it Tofu pad Thai- good standard dish, not much tofu in it though Ground chicken with basil- usually a favorite but something in the flavor was off, portion seemed small and wish it came with a fried egg Overall huge menu and good options! ”

“ I came here for dinner with a few friends, and we had a delightful experience. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and overall, the food was quite satisfying. My two favorite dishes were the Drunken Noodles and Morning Glory. Both were absolutely bomb! The flavors were rich and well-balanced. We also enjoyed the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert; it was pretty good, though not the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, we were not too fond of the Beef Pad See Yew. The beef was quite dry, which was disappointing given the otherwise great quality of the food. Customer service here is generally good, but they did forget to serve one of our dishes. We had to wait for it while we had already finished everything else, which was a bit of a letdown. Despite this hiccup, the overall experience was positive, and I plan to come back for my favorite dishes. ”
